Ham Chowder



I use farmer John's ham steaks at Target for this soup or leftover ham. The package comes with two thin ham steaks. You'll cut the ham into cubes; I put the ham in the soup cold and let it heat up while the soup is cooking.

Ingredients

1/4 cup onion, diced

1/2 cup green onion, chopped

2 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup flour

1 package ranch dressing mix

2 cups frozen corn

2 cups shredded hash browns

4 1/4 cups milk

2 cups ham, cubed

Directions

Melt the butter in the bottom of a large pot. Add the onions and the green pepper, cook until onions are translucent.

Next, add the flour and mix with a whisk and then add the ranch mix. Then slowly add the milk, using the whisk to combine. Keep mixing until there are no lumps from the flour.

Once the milk is added and combined, add the corn, hash browns, and ham. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring often.
